Steven Stamkos jersey in Leafs locker room, thanks to sneaky fan

Steven Stamkos is in the last year of his contract with the Tampa Bay Lightning. If he leaves the Bolts, he could write his own ticket for any of the other 29 teams in the NHL.

And while “why the hell would Steven Stamkos pick the Toronto Maple Leafs, in a city that’s run more players out of town than a taxi to Pearson?” seems like a reasonable question, after Mike Babcock arrived in Toronto pretty much anything’s possible.

So an enterprising fan at the Leafs Fan Fest hung this beauty of a Jersey Foul in the Toronto dressing room, as captured by Ryan MacNeil.

The image comes from Pension Plan Puppets, which writes: “One fan hung up a custom jersey of an NHL player he would like the Leafs to sign next off-season.”

Oh, totally. And obviously any time a fan creates a custom jersey for a player they wish and hope will join their team, it works every time.

Right, Connor McDavid Sabres guy?

And who among us can forget the legacy of Vinny Lecavalier with the Montreal Canadiens?

Wait, he never played there? Weird. He's, like, from there. And as we'll see with Stamkos, you always want to play with your hometown team. Just ask Rick Nash.

Thanks again to Ryan MacNeil for the find.
